COMMUNITY OUTREACH. SCIENCE EDUCATION
Think Like a Scientist (TLaS)
We believe in a world where every child can become a scientist!
Think Like a Scientist is a non-profit, community outreach science education program founded by Aimee Pugh Bernard in 2018. Our mission is to invest in early childhood education in order to empower the next generation of scientists. We fulfill our mission by offering community outreach science programs free-of-charge at elementary schools and community libraries surrounding the University of Colorado (CU) Anschutz medical campus (AMC).
CU Anshutz Medical Campus Today e-news article 'Making Science Cool and Fun'

TLaS is composed of volunteer scientists and students dedicated to community outreach and science education under the guidance of founder Aimee Pugh Bernard. TLaS volunteers inspire elementary school kids (aka 'young scientists') within the community surrounding the CU Anschutz medical campus to explore the wonders of science. Together, TLaS volunteers share their love of science with 'young scientists' through a mix of short, interactive lessons and hands-on, fun experiments. The community surrounding the medical campus is of low socioeconomic status and 75% of the 'young scientists' are on free-and-reduced lunch. To ensure that every 'young scientist' interested in the program can experience the wonders of science, TLaS is offered for free. Aimee and her team secure funding through grants and donations to run all programs for free.
